Are you wanting to add some extra exercise into your daily routine, and help the environment at the same time? Why not try walking to work instead of jumping into a car? Doing this just once or twice a week can make a huge difference to the environment and also comes with great health benefits too! Here are a few:
It adds a little exercise to your routine – we all want to make sure we are adding as much exercise into our routine as possible. Walking is a great way of getting around and getting active, without impacting too much on your day.
Thinking time! – Sometimes we are all too busy rushing around to stop and think about things. Having that walking time allows you to take a moment to mull over your day, come up with that solution to an issue at work and generally put things into order inside your head.
Leading by example – go ahead and set that trend among your work colleagues! Studies have suggested that people are more likely to take up an activity if they see someone they know doing it first.
Time flies when you’re having fun! – The walk probably won’t take as long as you think – take your headphones and listen to an inspirational podcast or a new album on your journey.
It's good for the body. Walking regularly carries some great health benefits such as lowering your risk of diabetes and blood pressure and lowering body fat percentages, which often cause major chronic health problems. If you want to shift a few pounds, walking is better than driving.
And if these reasons are not enough – just think of all those angry traffic encounters you will miss!
