As good as music platforms like Spotify and iTunes are, and how advanced technology is improving speakers, it's common knowledge that live music will always be better than through a pair of headphones!
Also, what is great about music is, it's like the sea. You've only explored/listened to a fraction of it so far! There are tens of thousands live bands/artists out there that you've never heard of, all playing at local pubs, clubs, bars and even street corners.
The next time you walk past a busker, why not take a couple of minutes and listen to their tunes? Musicians love to play for others, so when you stop and listen, it's sure to make them feel good! As you move away you could always drop a bit of money into their collection pot to help them out. It doesn't have to be a huge amount, just a few coins in your pocket maybe.
Similarly, if you are going to a social gathering with friends at a local pub/club, why not pick one with live music playing? Not only will it provide all of you with some entertainment, but it will also support the artists as they are driving in more customers to the bar!
Cost benefit to society
For every £1 spent on the arts and culture sector, the jobs, profit and additional areas of impact create a monetary added value to the UK economy. This cost benefit calculation is based on the assumption of the price of an average ticket for a local pub live music event, multiplied by the estimated added value of the arts and culture sector in the UK.
